End of March 2009

So the new year's motoring begins in April, with a shiny new tax disc sitting in the 'beam's windscreen holder. Need to fit a service in sometime, but its difficult to squeeze in a the moment with time taken to go camping, visitors soon and lots of effort going into the en-suite re-furb.

Short term plans are a quick wash and brush-up and a couple of short runs out to make sure everything's running well. The service isn't urgent, but fresh oil will be a must before the track days later in the Summer.

First event for 2009 will be the ASOC gathering at Skip Brown's Cars near Tarporley in Cheshire on 25 April around noon. This has been arranged to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. Why at Skip Brown's? Well, next to the factory rally team, these guys were the top rally and fast road preparation guys for all things Sunbeam, including the Lotus. They built some very successful cars "back in the day" and are still recognised today for their excellent work on Peugeots and Citroens. They still look after our Sunbeams too and have done a few tune-ups and a couple of cambelt changes on MEP. Still providing parts too and MEP has benefitted from rear Bilsteins, a water pump and numerous other minor bits from Skip's. Del Brown runs the business now and Skip's son Paul performs the magic in the workshop.

Will report back with some photos. Hopefully it'll be a good day, oh, and Lisa's going to take the Samba too.
